Chris Difford: My life in and out of Squeeze

Saturday 16 June 2018

19.00 – 20.15

Chris Difford, in conversation and unplugged

Local hero Chris Difford, a founding member and songwriter of Squeeze, discusses Some Fantastic Place: My Life in and Out of Squeeze, his funny, touching, evocative memoir of growing up in Greenwich, finding fame with Squeeze and losing himself to the rock lifestyle for a while. As the lyricist of classics like Up the Junction and Cool for Cats, Chris Difford is revered as one of the great British pop-writers, in the tradition of the Kinks and Pulp. At this special festival event, he’ll play a few tunes too.

Chris will be in conversation with Garth Cartwright, music journalist, broadcaster and author, most recently of Going for a Song: A Chronicle of the UK Record Shop. A New Zealander, Garth now lives in Peckham, where he organises regular South-East London music nights.

The session will be followed by a book signing.
