A Good Enough Parent? Psychological thrillers with Fiona Barton and Bev Thomas, in conversation with Alexandra Heminsley
Many struggle to juggle life and career. In Fiona Barton’s bestselling heart-in-mouth The Suspect and Bev Thomas’s gripping literary suspense thriller A Good Enough Mother, personal and professional boundaries are pushed to breaking-point. In The Suspect, news reporter Kate Waters flies to Thailand to investigate the murder of two gap-year teenagers. But could the truth behind their horrifying murder lie closer to home? In A Good Enough Mother therapist Ruth Hartland is the esteemed director of a respected trauma unit, but at home she is struggling with the disappearance of her son. When a patient is referred who bears a striking resemblance to Tom, she is floored. Poignant and page-turning, these are psychological thrillers for our times, exploring dark, deeply complex terrains and relationships, and both influenced by their authors’ earlier careers.
Fiona Barton is the bestselling author of The Widow, partially set in Greenwich, and The Child. A former senior news reporter on The Daily Telegraph, The Mail and Mail on Sunday, The Suspect is her third novel. She used to live locally, but now divides her time between Sussex and France.
Bev Thomas is the debut author of A Good Enough Mother, Faber’s lead 2019 debut, partially inspired by her decades experience as a clinical psychologist in the NHS.
This event will be held in KW002, King William Court, University of Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College. ALL attendees must have a valid ticket.
